Description
In Pétanque, Ardèche, France, Susan Horsfield turns her attention to the quiet theatre of everyday life. Players gather across a tree-lined square, while seated spectators watch proceedings beneath the wooded hills. Gestures, striped shirts and scattered boules give the scene its gentle humour and rhythm, with deep blues set against leafy greens and warm stone tones.
During retirement, Susan travelled through France for three months at a time. These extended journeys offered opportunities to observe the places and people around her; an attentive curiosity reflected in this affectionate portrayal of a French pastime.
Reproduced from Susan Horsfield’s original mixed media painting, this fine art giclée print brings a sense of sociability, place and unhurried pleasure into the home.
All prints are presented on Hahnemühle Photo Rag Giclée paper. Frames are solid wood from sustainable sources, manufactured to high standards.
