Plucky Turkey – Colourful Turkey Art Print by Susan Horsfield

Description

Plucky Turkey is a wonderfully spirited fine art print taken from an original ink painting by British artist Susan Horsfield.

Standing proudly amid an explosion of loose, expressive marks, this rather magnificent turkey is full of character. Layers of crimson, magenta, violet, russet and soft washes of colour build around the bird, while sweeping black and red lines suggest the extravagant fan of feathers behind him. The result is energetic and slightly eccentric, but beautifully balanced.

There is something rather irresistible about his stance: proud, theatrical and perhaps just a little self-important. Susan Horsfield had a particular gift for observing animals and birds without making them overly sentimental, allowing their individual personalities to emerge through confident line and colour.

The generous white space surrounding the artwork gives the composition room to breathe and allows its rich colour to become the focal point of a room. It works particularly well in kitchens, dining spaces and relaxed contemporary interiors, where it brings both warmth and personality to the wall.
