Tavira Side Street and Gathering is a fine art Giclée print reproduced from an original watercolour by Susan Horsfield.

Set in the Portuguese town of Tavira, the composition captures a quiet moment of everyday life beneath tall palm trees and sunlit façades. A small group of figures gathers near the centre of the street, while loose architectural details, balconies, shutters and passing traffic suggest the rhythm of the town around them.

Susan’s handling of watercolour is fluid and economical. Rather than describing every element precisely, she uses colour, line and quickly observed brush strokes to convey the atmosphere of the street, the warmth of the light, the movement of people and the distinctive character of the surrounding buildings.

Touches of turquoise, ochre, green and warm terracotta bring freshness to the scene, while the open handling of the foreground gives the work a spontaneous, sketch-like quality. The result feels immediate and personal: less a formal cityscape than a remembered moment observed while travelling.
